Edukativni program Jankovac
The 2260 meter long educational trail in the most beautiful part of Jankovac Forest Park begins in front of the Eco Point. The most important biological, geological and cultural historical sites within the boundaries of the Park are interpreted in an interesting and educational way by using a map. A pleasant walk continues beside the Mountain Lodge an alongside two mountain mirrors – the beautiful lakes of Jankovac. Enjoying the scents of a century-old beech forest, we reach the spring of the Jankovac stream. At this exact spot, Papuk’s endemic snail of the scientific name Graziana papukensis found its ideal home. The trail goes up to the caves – in the rock above the lake, in the natural semi-cave, there is a restored tomb with a marble sarcophagus of Count Janković, with an inscription in Hungarian and Old Church Slavic. Just above the tomb there is a narrow, dark, about 20 meters long cave of Maxim, named after the former Haiduk Maksim Bojanic. The journey continues by passing the forest queens (two enormous beech trees) on the way to the “Glassmakers’ Cemetery”, the place where the first inhabitants of the Jankovac Valley were buried – glassmakers who settled there in the late 18th century, coming from present-day Austria. From the ridge, the trail descends towards the largest natural phenomenon of Slavonia, Skakavac Waterfall, which, due to the abundance of water and its height, provides a magnificent sight, especially during strong winters when it turns into an attractive ice pillar.
