International Mountain Day 2009
With the fourth trip to the unknown Papuk “Highest Slavonian grassland” Intrenational Mountain Day was marked in Papuk Geopark on Sunday 13th December. The trip was organized by Slavonian Mountaineering Association, the Croatian Mountaineering Association and Nature Park Papuk.

Medieval Knight Tournament in Kaptol
The first medieval knight tournament was held in Kaptol on 27th June 2009. The knights' camp was set in front of a medieval fortress. Visitors were able to try out in various workshops, such as throwing mace, ax and dagger, and archery. Knights showed their skill in fights with swords, mace and other weapons, shooting from medieval guns and cannons, and in the evening hours they performed a program of fighting with torches

10th anniversary of the proclamation of Papuk Nature Park
The tenth anniversary of the proclamation of protection of the Nature Park Papuk was celebrated on Thursday 23rd April in Orahovica. The program started with the grand opening and guided tour of new educational trail ˝Ružica˝.

Nature Park Papuk candidate for European Destination of Excellence
Croatian Tourist Bard committee for selection of Croatian representative for European Destination of Excellence 2008/2009 visited Nature Park Papuk as one of ten candidates. Members of the committee were narrowly informed about activities and tourist offer of Public Institution Nature Park Papuk.
All candidates had to fulfil two general criteria, that are non-traditional tourist destination and that are part of NATURA 2000 network, or that are proclaimed as protected areas of regional or national legislation. Committee will select five finalists by June, and after presentation of each candidate they will chose the best Croatian destination of excellence which will be presented to the European Commission..

World Migratory Bird Day
Bird-watching event was organized in the oldest beech forest in Papuk Nature Park, in Park Forest Jankovac. After short presentation about 30 school children from Primary School “Julije Kempf” from Požega., accompanied with their teachers and press-representatives take a bird-watching walk through forest. The event was joint action of Papuk NP and NGO EKOMP21.

International American School in Papuk
A four-day long visit of International American School in Zagreb shows that the area of Nature Park Papuk is an ideal place for organizing high quality outdoor school programs. Besides visiting and entertaining part of the program, the students also attended educational program, by taking part in three work shops, named: «Adopt a forest», «Stream life», and Geological workshop. In these workshops, the students had to do field research and collect specimen that helped them study the vegetational, floristic, faunistic or geological features of NP Papuk. Geological workshop included plaster modeling and making an imitation of fossils (imprint of shells) that Papuk abounds in. The visiting tours included visit of Jankovac, Educational trail Lapjak and home of Papuk Indian. Entertainment was consisted of the short course of archery, course of astronomy, karaoke party, camp-fire and morning exercises. The students stayed at the beautiful newly rebuilt Mountain lodge Jankovac.

21.09.- International bat night
As it is known before, Nature Park Papuk, with its abyss Uviraljka, a famous bat winter habitat, is exceptionally important for bat survival. That is why PI NP Papuk has decided again this year to educate students on these endangered and useful mammals. In elementary school «Voćin», workshops have been organized, where children, through playing and working learned about bat life, the reasons of their endangerment and the ways to save them from extinction that threatens them. The results of these workshops shall be exposed in the school aula, so that other pupils could get to know them.

Nature Park Papuk on International Geological Congress
The 32nd International Geological Congress was held from August 20 to 28, in Florence, Italy and it gathered an imposing number of almost 8000 geologists from 141 countries. Together with the numerous interesting lectures, workshops, poster presentations and Geoexpo exhibition, the Croatian protected objects of nature were represented by Nature Park Žumberak-Samoborsko gorje and Nature Park Papuk. Because of its exceptional geological diversity, Nature Park Papuk wishes to become a part of global network of Geoparks under the patronage of UNESCO. In this direction, park has been represented with its poster named «Nature Park Papuk as Geopark ?!» for the first time exposing its initiative on such an important gathering. A first step has been made on the road to the full membership of Geopark association making contacts to outstanding geologists from other European geoparks, and experts that deal with geological heritage, geological conservation, geotourism and so on. A small step for geologist, but hopefuly a big step for the future of the park.

Active vacation on climbing site Sokoline
The Institution employees have assisted a group of young adventurers, fans of free climbing that decided to try a bit of this extreme sport at the climbing site Sokoline in Nature Park Papuk. The season of climbing lasts almost through the whole year, so we are inviting all interested to inform the Institution before the arrival, so that we can help with orientation in the Park, to check the equipment safety or with the assistance with climbing.

Research camp BIUS
From July 15-25. a research camp of Biology Student Association BIUS took place here. The camp attended around 60 students divided in 12 sections. It can already be stated that the camp was very successful, but only after the information process we shall know the first exact results. For now we must mention the discovery of 200m long new canals of Uviraljka abyss, as well as numerous, not marked until now, animal species.
Students of BIUS have shown a true commitment and expertise, and we are hoping for the future successful cooperation.

New findings on Uviraljka Ambyss
Members of Biospeleological section of BIUS with leading mentor Jana Bedek, have discovered around 200m of new canals, and it can be assumed that they continue even further more. That is why an arrival of group of biospeleologists is planned in the autumn, that will completely explore the abyss.
During the research another bat habitat has been discovered, so the research shall continue in this direction.
For now, on the list of 11 bat species founded on the Park area, the memebers of the Bat section have added another three speceis: Pipistrellus kuhli, Nyctalus leisleri and Eptesicus serotinus.

School Outdoors
This year, the project of School Outdoors is initiated, organized by the Nature Park, by the name: In the Nature About the Nature. The project includes several thematic workshops like: forest, meadow, stream…
Workshops are tailored at age of school children and completely adapted to school programs. Through playing and working, children can investigate and get to know the nature.

Tourist map of Nature Park Papuk
It's for sale, for the first time, gathered on one place, an overview of all tourist attractions of Nature Park Papuk. The Public Institution has printed a TOURIST MAP of the Park enrichened by numerous, useful and attractive informations. We recommend it to all Park visitors as a basic tool for the orientation and safe moving around the Park. The map can be bought in PI Nature Park Papuk, at the price of 30 KN.

Geological guide to Nature Park Papuk
January 28, in the City library in Požega, a promotion of the book «Geological guide to Nature Park Papuk» was held. The authors of the book are Dr. Jakob Pamić, Goran Radonić and Goran Pavić.
The book has been presented by Dr. Esad Prohić, advisor of President of the Republic of Croatia for the science and education, and Marija Brajković from the Direction of Nature Protection from the Ministry of Culture.
The book can be bought in PI Nature Park Papuk, at the price of 50 KN
